Virender Sehwag made a world record by making highest ODI scorer
Today on 8th December, 2011, Virender Sehwag made the highest ODI score by breaking the record of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin Tendulakar made the highest score against the South Africa in 2010. He made 200 not out in Indoor (Madhya Pradesh). But today Virender Sehwag not only break this record but also setup a new world record. He played an inning of 219 runs against West Indies in Gwalior. Virender Sehwag is also captain of this match and the whole ODI series against West Indies.
The match started at 2: 30pm. India won the toss & elected to bat. After three matches, Gautam Gambhir along with Virender Sehwag did opening for the fourth match. India won first two matches and lost third one. Virender Sehwag not able to make a high score in first three matches and therefore, every one criticize him for this. As he was captain of the team and whole responsibility of the team is on him. But in fourth ODI he set up a highest individual score a world record. He was on 197 and then strikes a shot for four and broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar by making 201 runs. It was unfortunate that he got caught by a substitute Martin on the balling of Kieron Pollard.
Every one congratulates him on this occasion even opposite team also. India made 418 runs in this match. In this inning he played only 149 balls and made 219 runs with 25 fours and 7 sixes. His overall strike rate for the inning was 146.98.
Team for today’s match was as Gautam Gambhir made 67 runs on 67 balls with 11 fours and strike rate remains as 100% (run out); Virender Sehwag (captain) made 219 runs on 149 balls with 25 fours and 7 sixes (catch out) ; Suresh Raina made made 55 runs on 44 balls with a strike rate of 125% (run out); Ravindra Jadeja made 10 runs on 10 balls with a strike rate of 100 % (catch out- Ravi Rampaul b Andre Russell); Rohit Sharma made 27 runs on 16 balls with a strike rate of 168.75% (bold by Kemar Roach); Virat Kohli made 23 runs on 11 balls with a strike rate of 209.09% (remains not out); Parthiv Patel (wicket keeper) made 3 runs on 3 balls with a strike rate of 100% (remains not out); Ravichandran Ashwin (not played); Vinay Kumar (not played); Abhimanyu Mithun (not played); Rahul Sharma (not played).
From the West Indies side (bowling side): Kemar Roach did 10 over’s and gave 88 runs; Ravi Rampaul did 9 over’s and gave 66 runs; Andre Russell did 7 over’s and gave 63 runs; Sunil Narine did 6 over’s and gave 46 runs; Darren Sammy did 3 over’s and gave 30 runs; Kieron Pollard did 7 over’s and gave 65 runs; Marlon Samuels did 8 over’s and gave 59 runs.
